Purchasing Manager

Salary: £55-65k

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join one of our prestigious clients based in Coleshill Birmingham.

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for a small team, will manage all activities within the Purchasing / Supply Chain and Logistics processes.

Duties

  • Develop and implement tender, project and procurement and supply chain strategies
  • Plan and implement a logistics strategy in line with company objectives and targets
  • Build and own relationships with suppliers and customers
  • Effectively communicate, negotiate contracts and costs with suppliers and customers
  • Monitor and analyse inventory requirement trends and execute optimal usage and capacity
  • Work with the Plant Manager to control manufacturing and delivery processes
  • Oversee product storage, handling and distribution
  • Supply Chain Management in line with ISO and ESG Requirements
  • Creating reports and preparing presentation updates for Senior Management
  • Provide deep dive analytic to root causes and evolve solutions to complex problems
  • Follow Company Procedure regarding all administrative aspects of the role completing administrative tasks on an on-going basis
  • Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions throughout the course of their business activities, acting in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and setting a personal example at all times.

Our client may also require the successful individual to perform other reasonable duties in order to achieve efficiency and meet the changing needs of the business.

Ideal Candidate – Skills / Knowledge

  • Degree educated in a Procurement, Operations or Business Studies based discipline. CIPS Qualified.
  • Demonstrate professional experience in Supply Chain Management for an International Company
  • Experience of dealing with complex issues, metrics and data management, and desire to create and bence to handle multiple competing priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record of improving the end to value chain and experience designing advanced Supply Chain processes and implementing world class Supply Chain/Logistics tools
  • Familiarity with supply chain management and transportation concepts: forecasting, planning, optimization, logistics, delivery performance, carrier negotiation, inventory management
  • Highly analytical and quantitative skills; experience using data and metrics to test theories, confirm assumptions, and measure success
  • Demonstrated competence in daily CI
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP
  • Fluent English is essential however, other languages (German/French/Italian/Spanish) is desirable

The ideal candidate for this position must have the willingness to go the “extra mile” and share ideas / improvements, flexible with great attention to detail. The ability to identify potential hurdles or opportunities with solutions would be a great advantage.
