Graduate Engineering Coordinator

Shawthorpe is working on behalf of one of our manufacturing clients and is recruiting for a graduate Engineering Coordinator in the Cradley Heath area .  Ideally, we are looking for a bright, enthusiastic individual with an interest in engineering.

This is a great opportunity for a junior/ graduate candidate to start their career in the engineering sector.

Job Purpose

Responsible for helping to coordinate all projects, from design, quality, manufacturing, ensuring the team collaborates together for the customer to receive the service and goods required.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Create an organized and effective engineering department.
  • Carry out a mini 5S program within the engineering department with the involvement of all engineers and production management.
  • Identify existing spare parts stock holding, create a Kanban system for fast moving consumables
  • Provide and initial stock check by item by value within 3 months of starting within the role. Issue results to Finance.
  • Target >5% savings on all spare parts and 3rd party external repair work, liaise with current suppliers and identify new suppliers
  • Record daily breakdowns versus engineering hours spent on the job, issue weekly report by breakdown, provide pareto analysis to drive improvement process. Evaluate manhours to work completed.
  • Work with Engineers and production management to create corrective actions to prevent re-occurring breakdowns.
  • Attend morning production meeting and provide feedback 2-way feedback, e.g. Engineering to management and visa versa.
  • Work closely with the operations director to control all administration, purchasing and resource planning within the department.
  • Review service contracts and create available document data base
  • Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, Quality standards and procedures are adhered to

 

Skills / Ability / Experience & Qualifications 

  • Educated to GSCE level
  • Numerate and ability to communicate
  • Computer literate
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to communicate professionally and foster collaboration at all levels internally and externally
  • Previous purchasing and administration experience is desired
  • Consideration for the smooth and efficient operation of the plant at all times
  • Ability to positively resolve issues

 

Hours & Salary 

This is full time Monday to Friday role and hours can be agreed with a successful candidate.

£26,000 per annum
